Help a family rebuild after disaster strikes
- A dear friend of mine has experienced something that many of us could not even fathom - losing her entire home to a mountain fire in the hills of Camarillo.
- Misty, who lives with her mom Caprice and her mother’s boyfriend Stan, as well as Misty’s lovable goof of a dog Corbin, have been unfortunately displaced from this fire on November 6th. While watching the news, they were able to ascertain that their entire home had gone up in flames and they would not have anything to return to. Such a loss is many people's worst fear, and I cannot begin to understand the grief they must feel.
Who They Are
- Misty has been a kind, loving, supportive, and generous friend to me for many years. We bonded together over crafting, Pokemon, and so many other silly things, and it has given me a chance to see into her heart and know the goodness that radiates from her. If there is anyone less deserving of a tragedy such as this, it would be her.
- While battling all the normal struggles that life may have to offer us, Misty also has been battling the exhausting and draining chronic illness of fibromyalgia. This disorder strikes the entire body, and I can’t imagine the struggle it must be to try to maintain a chronic illness as well during this disaster.
The Goal
- I hope that through the generosity of this community, we can provide this family with as much support as possible, and give them a hand in restarting. The journey back to square one will be treacherous and exhausting, but I believe that the kindness of others and support from so many can provide something for them to lean on, even if just for a moment so they may take a deep breath and take the first steps.
- My goal is that we can provide them some financial aid to help them find temporary housing, be able to replace so many essential items, and relieve some of the weight of this tragedy so that they can take care of their mental and physical health while they slowly rebuild their lives.
Join me in fighting for the friends and loved ones in our community and show the world that we can band together during disasters and hold one another close as we regain our strength.
Thank you,
Friend of the Kelton Family

Update #2:
Thank you ALL for your generosity and kind hearts! Misty is so grateful for all that you’ve done, whether that be donating OR boosting this post on social media or sharing with your friends!
Currently, she is trying to find permanent or at least semi-permanent housing for her and Corbin. Finding a home that fits her needs has proved to be rather difficult, so if you have an available ADU, or know someone in Ventura county who has something similar with a reasonable rent, please reach out to either me or Misty herself to let her know. She is trying to find a place that has room for Corbin (a lovable 80-pound boy). Anything helps, please share around if you can! Thank you!
