CALIFORNIA WILDFIRES – WHEN DISASTER HITS HOME
We are Carrie and Julie, the proud aunts of our adored nephew, Joshua. Recently, Joshua and his fiancée, Liza, experienced the devastating impact of the California wildfires firsthand. While many of us watch such tragedies unfold from a distance, feeling compassion for those affected, there are rare moments when disaster strikes close to home.
The heartbreaking scenes of the raging California wildfires have been impossible to ignore—the destruction is overwhelming, and the loss for so many is unimaginable. For Joshua and Liza, who live in Altadena, this became their reality.
Just days ago, they were forced to evacuate. With little time, they swiftly gathered what they could – to include their two cherished cats – and fled to safety, unsure if the place they call home would survive the flames.
They were finally allowed to return briefly to assess the damage. By some miracle, their house is still standing. However, the ash and smoke have left their home in total ruin, with hardly anything salvageable. The damage is so severe that nearly everything they owned is irreparably lost, and they remain displaced.
Today, we are reaching out for your support to help Joshua and Liza as they begin the overwhelming process of rebuilding their lives. Any contribution will make a meaningful difference as they face this difficult journey.
Every donation, no matter the size, will go directly to Joshua and Liza. An example of some items that are completely damaged by smoke and ash, and need to be replaced are; cloth drapes, all clothes, cloth lamp shades, work uniforms, furniture, bedding, mattress, and towels. ALL food has to be destroyed in the refrigerator and freezer because there is still no power in Altadena.
If you feel moved to do so, please share this message with others. Our family deeply appreciates your thoughts, generosity, and support during this challenging time.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Carrie & Julie (Aunt's)
Lisa (Mom)
