When Hurricane Melissa swept across Jamaica, it left behind unimaginable loss in Westmoreland, St. Elizabeth, and Montego Bay. Several members of our dedicated team lost everything—their homes destroyed, personal belongings lost, and families left with nothing to rebuild from. The pain and despair are overwhelming, but together we can help them rise again.
This GoFundMe has been created by colleagues and friends who were not directly affected by the hurricane, to support the members of our Health Promotion and Education team who were impacted.
Even as they face their own losses, our health promotion colleagues continue to stand on the front line in the aftermath of the hurricane. They are in communities every day, sharing vital health information, checking on vulnerable families, supporting shelters, promoting safe water and sanitation practices, and helping residents cope with fear and stress, all while they themselves are struggling to recover.
Who we are & why raising funds
We are colleagues from the Health Promotion and Education team in Jamaica, organizing this fundraiser on behalf of the team members whose homes were severely damaged during Hurricane Melissa. We work directly alongside these individuals and have seen the impact of their losses firsthand.
How the funds will be spent:
All funds raised will be divided equally among the affected team members from the most devastated parishes to help them purchase essential items, support their families, and begin rebuilding their lives.
Your donation, no matter the amount, can make a real difference. It can help a parent feed their children, replace essential items, or take the first steps towards rebuilding a safe home.
Hope is powerful. Today, you can help give them that hope.
