Hello, my name is Mike Warmenhoven and I am trying to help my good friend Cale Luther raise funds to assist him as he prepares to rebuild after a devastating fire to his home and part of his kennels. Cale and I first met as we prepared to deploy to Iraq in 2005, and after 22 months, we became part of the longest continuous deployment of any military unit during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Cale and I became bonded as brothers during that time, and one of my most terrifying moments was watching as his vehicle was struck by an IED, believing in those first few moments after, that I had just watched my best friend die. Luckily, Cale and his entire crew survived that day, although it was moments like these that left so many deeper scars.
Since our return from Iraq, Cale has faced so many challenges in life, some of which would have left many people utterly destroyed. He stoically faces these challenges and always manages to get back up, brush himself off, and drive forward. But after a very tough few years, he may have reached a breaking point after having lost his home and part of his kennels to fire. You see, Cale found a focus in training dogs for future use in law enforcement and security, showing the same dedication to his animals as he did to those of us lucky enough to have served with him in combat. Even after the fire, his first focus was not on himself, but ensuring he secured safe and stable homes for all of his dogs.
Although he has insurance, Cale is running into a "Red Tape" nightmare and has found that the site demo and clearing that is needed before he can rebuild will not be covered. I am asking for your help as I try to give back to a man who has given so much of himself to others...selflessly and without fail. My goal is to raise $7000 for Cale so that for once, he gets back up with a little well-deserved help.
