Hello Houma, Louisiana, allow me to share with you what God put on my heart today. I was blessed to meet an amazing lady born and raised in the city of Houma, Louisiana. Her name is Adele, and my name is George Garza. Adele has worked hard her whole life to raise her 5 children, and I mean some amazing young ladies and one young man. Each one she should be very proud of, and I know she is.
Last Thursday, 9/18/2025, as we were in Mississippi, we received a call from one of Adele’s daughters. As Adele answered her phone, excited to hear from her daughter, that beautiful feeling of knowing your daughter was calling you turned into a moment of a nightmare. As Adele was hearing her daughter, Terri Aueert, explain to her that their home burned down and they lost everything in the home. But the blessing came when we heard the daughter and 3 grandkids were sleeping. At which point, the 5-year-old awakened. At that point, he saw the fire and did just as they taught him in school: to get on the floor and crawl below the smoke. Which he did and went to wake his mother, Kayla Verdin. At which time, Kayla grabbed all 3 children out of the home and ran to safety. Kayla then called the Houma Fire Department, which was very responsive and assured the children and their mother were in good health. What a blessing to have such an amazing fire department in Houma, the Ashland North Fire Department.
We thank the good Lord for watching over this beautiful family and awakening the 5-year-old hero, Kayson, to save his mother and his other 2 siblings. Kayson and his bravery saved his mother and 2 other siblings. And we thank the Lord. If it had not been for the Lord and the teaching of the Houma schools, the outcome of this tragedy could have been much worse. We thank the Lord, the Houma teachers, and the Houma Police Department for serving the community and saving the lives of our loved ones. And a big thanks to all else who helped and supported this amazing family and children.
Now comes the not-so-easy part. This family had no insurance on the home. They lost everything, including clothing and all other belongings. Adele, the mother and grandmother, has worked hard her entire life to provide for her children and is not good at asking anyone for help. So, on her behalf, I told her about this GoFundMe page. After spending her own money to help her daughter and grandchildren get a hotel, food, and some clothing, along with the Red Cross helping out, they greatly appreciate everyone for their support. Now, I ask if anyone from anywhere in the good old USA can help this amazing family get their lives back together. Simply donate what you can. A dollar will help them. Remember, it only takes ten dollars to make ten dollars, and ten ten-dollar bills to make a hundred dollars. Before you know it, this family will be back up and running again.
I know a lot of folks in Houma, Louisiana, and each one is solid people with lots of love for the place they call home. So let’s join hands and help this family get back a place they once called home. I know for them, a single family alone, it will take forever for them to get back in their home. But if we all gather in numbers, we will strengthen this family and return their lives back to normal again. We are asking not just Houma but Dulac and Thibodaux, Louisiana, along with the rest of the entire United States, to help this family. Remember the old saying: your kind-hearted deeds will come back tenfold. If you’re blessed enough to help this family, I know they will appreciate your kindness. I am spreading this across America to help them. If you can’t donate much, remember a dollar from everyone will be enough. We are always stronger in numbers. Please pray for this family. Once they are able to sleep back at their address again in their own new home, I, myself, or the mother, Adele, will get back on social media to share with you how your kind hearts brought this family’s lives back together.
We thank you very much, and God bless you and America. Again, we thank God for saving these children and their mother.
