On October 29th, my hometown, Petersville, JA, was destroyed by Hurricane Melissa. Petersville is just a short drive from Whitehouse. This Category 5 disaster left everyone homeless or severely damaged once it was in its path. Our entire roof is gone, including windows, as water flooded the house and damaged most of everything. This catastrophe has been described as something you only see in movies; it is unimaginable.
I’m Seroya, and I’m trying my best to play my part in rebuilding not just my home but my community. Collectively, we all have worked hard in maintaining that house and property for over 70 years, and to see it now is heartbreaking.
The true, single blessing is that our family members are okay, and we are now focused on rebuilding the house that I once called home. My home. Our home.
We put God first in that house, and I believe He will provide strength in our time of weakness. We are at our weakest right now.
We do need help. Every little bit, any little bit. Even to reshare our story to bring awareness will be greatly appreciated.
