Help Us Rebuild Our Lives After a Devastating House Fire
Dear friends, family, and compassionate supporters,
We never imagined we’d be in this position, but we are reaching out for your help during one of the most challenging times of our lives. A devastating fire recently tore through our home, leaving behind ashes where our memories and safe haven once stood. While we are profoundly grateful that everyone, including our pets, made it out safely, the damage to our home has been overwhelming—both emotionally and financially.
What Happened
The fire struck suddenly, leaving our home significantly damaged. We’re still working with our insurance company to assess the full extent of the loss, but we already know the road to recovery will be long and difficult. Our home wasn’t just a structure; it was a place of love, laughter, and memories—a place we hoped to grow old in.
Now, we are faced with the daunting challenge of starting over.
Why We Need Your Help
While we are fortunate to have homeowners insurance, we’ve quickly realized that it won’t cover everything we need to recover fully. Between rebuilding costs, replacing belongings, temporary housing, and other uncovered expenses, there are significant gaps.
Here’s where your help can make a world of difference:
• Rebuilding Shortfall: Our insurance covers $203,400 for the rebuild, but rising construction costs mean we’re likely to face a gap of $15,000–$20,000.
• Personal Belongings: Many of our cherished items—furniture, clothing, and everyday essentials—were destroyed, and insurance will only cover so much. We estimate a shortfall of $10,000–$15,000.
• Temporary Living Expenses: We are grateful for the $61,020 in coverage for temporary housing, but this may not cover the full duration of the rebuild, leaving a gap of $5,000–$10,000.
• Uncovered Costs: Additional repairs, code compliance upgrades, and our deductible ($2,034) could add $5,000 or more to our expenses.
We’ve set a goal of $55,000 to help us bridge these gaps and rebuild not just our home but our lives.
How Your Support Will Help
Your contributions will directly go toward:
• Rebuilding Our Home: Covering the shortfall between insurance coverage and actual rebuilding costs.
• Replacing Essentials: Helping us replace furniture, clothing, and other personal items.
• Temporary Housing: Ensuring we have a safe place to stay while our home is being repaired.
• Covering Uncovered Costs: Addressing unforeseen expenses, like code upgrades and other out-of-pocket costs.
Every dollar helps, no matter the amount, and we are endlessly grateful for your generosity.
