Last night, I got the message that the adolescent and family recovery campus we have been building was on fire.
This one hit different.
I am the Clinical Director, and I have been part of building the services that were supposed to live inside that space. I know who it was built for. I know the level of care it was meant to provide. And I know how badly it is needed right now.
We were days away from opening.
This was not just another building. It was a space designed specifically for youth ages 14 to 17 who are struggling with substance use and mental health. A place where they could actually get the level of support they need, involve their families, and have a real shot at changing the direction of their lives.
A significant portion of that building is now gone.
Thankfully, no one was hurt.
But the loss is real.
What keeps sitting with me are the kids who were supposed to walk through those doors in the coming days and weeks. The ones who are ready now. The ones who do not have time to sit on a waitlist or fall through the cracks.
In this work, timing matters more than people realize.
There is a window when someone is willing to accept help. If we miss it, we do not always get another chance.
That is why I am asking for help.
Not on behalf of an organization, but as someone who does this work every day and understands exactly what is at stake if we slow down.
We are going to rebuild. That part is not in question.
But anything that helps us move faster matters. Anything that helps us get services back up and running sooner matters.
Your support will go toward rebuilding the space, replacing what was lost, and helping us get back to serving youth and families as quickly as possible.
If you can give, thank you.
If you cannot, sharing this matters more than you probably think.
There are kids out there right now trying to decide if things can be different for them.
I want to make sure we are ready when they say yes.
Thank you for standing with us.
