"My name is Alicia Adams, and I’m from Crawford Gallon Beach, near Black River in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica. I’m writing this with a heavy heart. My family and community have lost everything to the recent hurricane that tore through our island. The winds were relentless—ripping away our homes, our memories, and our sense of security. What once was a close-knit, vibrant community now lies in ruins. Many of us are homeless, struggling to find shelter, food, and even the comfort of knowing our loved ones are safe.

It’s hard to put into words the heartbreak of standing where your home once stood and seeing nothing but debris. But even in the midst of this devastation, we’re clinging to hope. My family and I are doing everything we can to rebuild—salvaging whatever remains, comforting our neighbors, and trying to piece our lives back together.
