Friday, September 27th, wonderful people from our community in Swannanoa lost their home and also their source of income, their small home-based licensed child care center, The Little People's Place. Duane and Jeneal Hensley and both of their daughters, who also had homes for their families on the property, lost their homes and all of their belongings due to Hurricane Helene.

My name is Ember Davis. I started this fundraiser to support them in replacing their homes as well as to hopefully be able to reopen the daycare at some point. Jeneal and Duane, also known as GiGi and Papa to my son and many other families' children, are some of the most amazing people I have ever met. My son started childcare with them at 12 weeks old. Boy, is that a scary age to send a baby to daycare! Jeneal came highly recommended from a close friend, so we agreed and sent him. To say that he loves going to GiGi's for "school" is an understatement. He has grown to love them like family. When your child cries when you pick them up from daycare, you know you found the right place and people to care for them. He loves his friends there as well. We are so sad to have to find another place for childcare as we were so comfortable with sending our child there, knowing he is happy, safe, and loved while I am at work. We miss GiGi, Papa, their daughters, and their children. Any little bit will help them to rebuild their homes and stay close as a family. Thank you all!
