Hi everyone, my name is Maddie and I've worked at Revolutions Coffee in Greenlake, Seattle for over 3 years. Last night, our next-door neighbor, Greenlake Bar & Grill, had a kitchen fire around 3 a.m. I came into work just before 5 a.m. to multiple fire trucks and police vehicles surrounding the restaurant and blocking off the street. I didn't get the full story until I opened my doors for business and was greeted by multiple kind firefighters in need of some coffee. They told me that the kitchen caught on fire, most likely due to a gas leak, but that it had been contained by now. I was also told the fire caused multiple holes in the ceiling and that the restaurant will be closed for a while. Luckily, nobody was in the building when the fire started.

My goal with this fundraiser is to not only raise funds for Greenlake Bar & Grill's kitchen renovations, but to raise enough money for the employees that might've just lost a job overnight. There's no way of knowing (right now) when the restaurant will be able to re-open its doors, meaning these employees are completely stranded without work or income. I'm hoping to raise enough money so Greenlake Bar & Grill can pay its employees for the shifts they won't be able to work. If the restaurant is able to pay its employees during this hard time, I'm sure it'll make re-opening a lot easier without having to hire a whole new crew.

I've seen how much Greenlake can make this big city feel small. This neighborhood can be very welcoming and supportive. NOW is the time to show how much you care about your community.
