>>Aid For Jamaica's Great Bay Small Businesses<<

Just three weeks ago, Hurricane Melissa ripped through Jamaica — and as many of you know, I was there as the eye of the storm made landfall near my home away from home in Great Bay, St. Elizabeth. I’m writing with an important call for support.

I’m introducing the 5x5 Campaign, an effort to rebuild and restore Great Bay’s small businesses in the wake of the hurricane. The goal is simple but powerful: help five businesses get back on their feet.

Here's my ask: I'm calling on friends and colleagues to adopt 5 local Great Bay businesses that have been demolished by Hurricane Melissa providing them with $5,000 each. Your contribution will have a lasting impact: you will help rebuild the entire business district of Great Bay, a small fishing community. But more than just a community, each one of these businesses serves as a vital hub where neighbors meet, stories and news are shared, and the spirit of Great Bay grows.

Introducing the 5 Businesses:
Lobster Pot – World famous, highly rated restaurant, fishermen owned and family operated business, this Great Bay institution hosts thousands of people from all over the world each year. From sea to table, they serve everything from steam fish, escovitch, garlic lobster, conch, etc.
Noah’s @ Lobster Pot – Father and son business, Noah offers the compliment to his father’s business at Lobster Pot, providing pre and post dinner drinks and the most beautiful sunsets in Jamaica
Glamma Puss– open 7 days a week, single mother owned and operated, was recently burned to the ground. She rebuilt based on private donation and free labor from community members, only to be open for four days prior to Hurricane Melissa obliterating her business once again. She hosts every kind of event, including memorial services for this community
Sea Splash by Lonzo – the heart and soul of Great Bay beach that host returning fishermen, helps facilitate buyers for the fishermen and always has a fire burning for a beachside cookout
Rockside Beach Shack – a community hub where older men (retirees/returning citizens) come to dry off after a Sunday swim, catch up on life and often play dominos for hours. Many family celebrations and holidays spent in this shady, out of the way spot.

Please reach out to me directly if your business would be willing to sponsor one of our small businesses who have lost everything in the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa. I am here on the ground and will personally guarantee that your donation will make the most impact. Thank you, your generosity will help bring this resilient community back to life.

Much love and respect,
Sara
