Please Help Rebuild My Family Home After Hurricane Melissa

Hi everyone, my name is Jordan, and I’m reaching out on behalf of my family. We are from Brompton, St. Elizabeth, outside of Black river in Jamaica, and our lives were turned upside down when CATEGORY 5 Hurricane Melissa hit.

Melissa tore through Western Jamaica October 29, leaving devastation that words can barely capture. My grandmother’s home—our family’s gathering place for generations—was completely destroyed. Many of us were raised there, surrounded by love, laughter, and memories that shaped who we are today. Now the walls are cracked, the roof is gone, and everything she has Cherished was lost in a single storm.

She has always been a corner stone of our Church & community as well as the heart of our family and friends, welcoming anyone who needed comfort, a meal, or a place to rest.

Today, she’s the one who needs a helping hand. We’re raising funds to rebuild her home, the home we we're all was raised in. so she can have a safe, solid place to live again and continue being that source of warmth for others.

I’m her grandchild, and I’ve spent countless days in that house—it’s where we learned, laughed, and felt safe. Seeing it destroyed has been heartbreaking.

How the funds will be spent:

Building materials: cement, lumber, zinc roofing, and windows to rebuild the structure

Labor costs: hiring local builders and roofers to restore the home safely

Essential repairs: electrical work, plumbing, and basic furnishings

Cleanup and transport: clearing debris and moving materials to the site
