My name is Iris, and I am reaching out for the community's help on my Grandma's behalf. She lives in the Rio Grande Valley, Mercedes, Texas to be more exact. On 3/27/25, flash flooding devastated our family. My 96-year-old grandma had to be rescued from her house of 55 years by a military vehicle due to rising flood waters. I had to meet them at a safe location so I could bring her to my house so she would be safe. We are forever grateful to the brave men and women who assisted everyone during this horrendous time.

Now the real work begins. I am asking for help in any way possible to get my grandma's house back into living conditions. We are going to need to replace sheetrock, insulation, electrical, and ceiling repairs. I am also going to need to buy her new furniture for her room since everything was ruined not just by the flood waters but by people that would drive by and force more water into her house.
