I am Shaneika and I hail from Siloah, St. Elizabeth, Jamaica. As we are aware, the island was hit with a devastating cat5 hurricane, Mellisa, wreaking havoc on the agricultural and tourism sector. Siloah is a small farming community located on the south western side which suffered the most damage. There, we lost the roof of our family home and have extensive damage to the structure. We are seeking any assistance to rebuild and provide basic needs for the family with the hope to extend the help to the wider community.
Food and other basic supplies are scarce commodities and forecasted to become even more destitute in the coming months. The donations will be used to alleviate some of the displacement. This will be done by purchasing building materials. It is also my intention to ship food, clothing, solar lights, toiletries, batteries, household generators, diapers and other needed items to share with the community.
As Jamaicans say “every nickel mek a knuckle” meaning any small contribution goes a long way. We appreciate any contribution.
