Hello. Our names are Andre Thompson & Kemarch Dodd. We are two friends who had a dream and a vision for our community of Falmouth, Trelawny. We were going to change tourism with something that has never been done before, a floating lounge bar on a luminous lagoon.
We started with a 3D blueprint in 2023. After a year of revising and saving, we began to turn our dream into a reality and began building in August 2024. We’ve invested $6 million+ JMD and were set to open December 2025. We were almost at the finish line.
Disaster struck us on October 28. Described as the 'Storm of the Century', the Category 5 Hurricane named Melissa created a humanitarian crisis in the Caribbean, especially in our beloved country of Jamaica. Hurricane Melissa was nothing short of catastrophic. No one could have foreseen the level of intensity, destruction, and sheer devastation this hurricane would bring. We made every preparation humanly possible by securing every structure we could.
That was not enough.
We are still at a loss for words. We’ve poured our life savings into this project, believing whole heartedly that this lounge will make a difference not only in our lives, but also the lives of the people in our community. The lounge was going to represent hope, work, and community by employing locals, welcoming travelers and bringing tourism, and creating opportunities for the people in our up & coming town of Falmouth. In the span of 24 hours, everything we worked so hard on, was destroyed, along with homes and other businesses in our community. The full scope of the damage is unimaginable as livelihoods were destroyed.
Today, we still have no electricity, no service, and roads are still blocked.
We believe restoration and reconstruction is possible, and it is with incredibly heavy hearts that we, Andre & Kemarch, are asking for your urgent support in rebuilding The Pirate of the Luminous Lagoon, as well as our community of Falmouth, Trelawny.
As Jamaicans say 'Every Mickle Mek a Muckle' - Every donation, no matter how small, will go directly to:
• rebuilding our lounge to restore local jobs and community pride.
• helping our neighbors/community affected by the hurricane to rebuild safely.
• provide relief efforts such as food, clean water, and essential supplies to families who’ve lost everything.
We will post updates on our progress here.
If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this page so that others who may be able to help can see it. Every share, every prayer, and every act of kindness truly makes a difference.
Recovery will take not just money, but patience, faith, and time. We will rise again. Stronger than before.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your compassion, kindness, generosity, and continued prayers in this extremely difficult time. They mean more to us than words can express.
With gratitude,
Andre Thompson & Kemarch Dodd
