Erin's Path to Hope: Shelter and Care Needed
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Erin. I never imagined I’d find myself in a situation where I need to write something like this, but I’m needing some help to get back on my feet.
For the past year, I’ve been homeless — living wherever I can, crashing on couches, and doing my best to survive while taking care of my 6 animals I’ve rescued along the way. Some of them have been with me for years and a few from bad situations in this past year. These animals are my family and my service dogs especially help me so much. Even though I’ve had so little, I’ve done everything I can to keep them safe, healthy, and loved.
Last winter, my apartment in Atlanta was severely damaged by flooding. I lost the roof over my head and everything that felt stable in my life. During that time, I focused on helping others in the community — organizing and distributing supplies, checking in on people, trying to keep spirits up. But ever since, I haven’t been able to find a permanent place to live.
Before all of this, I worked as a nanny and studied social work in college. I’ve always cared deeply about mental health awareness and animal welfare, and I hope to one day turn that passion into something I can offer to others who are struggling too. I relocated to Florida last year to try and reconnect with family, but unfortunately, I’ve been on my own ever since.
Due to ongoing health issues, I haven’t been able to work. I’m severely undernourished, physically run-down, and struggling just to keep myself and the animals safe each day. It’s incredibly hard to ask for help, but I know I can’t do this alone anymore.
I’m starting this fundraiser to try and get back on my feet — not just for me, but for the animals who rely on me, and for the future I still hope to build.
I’m hoping to raise enough to:
• Find a safe and stable place to live
• Cover food and vet care for the animals in my care
• Get medical and nutritional help to start healing
• Begin to rebuild my life with hope, health, and purpose
If you’ve made it this far — thank you. Even just sharing this helps more than you know. If you’re able to contribute, please know you’re not just helping one person — you’re helping a small family of humans and animals who’ve been trying to hold on through impossible circumstances.
With love and gratitude,
Erin
