My 40-year dream gone in 90 minutes.

My name is Connie Groom, and gymnastics has been a part of my life, my passion, and my purpose for over 40 years. In 2023, my lifelong vision finally came true. I remember the exact feeling turning the key to our building for the very first time and watching the truckloads of mats, bars, my floor and beams arrive.

Over the past three years, I poured my hearts into building Edge Gymnastics. I didn't just build another sports facility, I build a sanctuary. I created a safe ,empowering environment for coaches and athletes alike- a chosen family where every single person who walked through the doors is instantly made to feel at home.

Then in just 1.5 short hours , a devastating Level 3 flood swept through our facility. In less than ninety minutes, everything I build was completely gone and entire building was shut down.

More Than a Gym: The Heart of Our Community

It breaks my heart to look at the destruction, because Edge Gymnastics was never just about flips and cartwheels. It was a vibrant, inclusive community hub serving generations of families. Our youngest member is 15 month old, and our oldest active member is 84 years young.

I took immense pride in opening the doors and sharing our space with other community groups and specialized programs, including :

1. Dimensions: Providing life-changing programming tailored for childrena nd adults facing both physical amd mental barriers.

2. Winning Circle Martial Arts & Ottawa Circus school Partnering to provide local youth and artists a safe place to train.

3. The Children's Place: Hosting regular group visits to keep local children active, healthy and engaged.

4. Local Families : Serving as a backdrop for countless birthday parties , family drop ins, classes, and specialized private training.

Why Edge Needs Your Help To Rebuild

We want to be entirely transparent with our community: our insurance policy will not cover all of our catastrophic losses. The cost to replace specialized gymnastics flooring, safety mats, structural build-out, and heavy apparatuses is atronomical.

We are starting from absolute zero, and we cannot do this alone.
