Rebuild Dreams: Aid Diane & Tom's Campground
Donation protected
Hurricane Helene brought devastation to the mountain regions of Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia in its wake. My friends, Diane & Tom Moffa, lost their beloved campground, New River Bridge Family Campground, in Independence, Virginia. The New River rose 21 feet over its banks and flooded the campground. It is a total loss. They watched in horror as their campground was washed away and they were unable to do anything.
I have known Diane and Tom for over 15 years. I know the love they have for camping and their dreams for this campground. They have worked tirelessly over the last 2 years to make this campground a success. Weekends, vacation days, weeknights, they could be found enhancing the property to make it the perfect vacation spot for campers of all ages. It was becoming well known as the best little campground on the New River.
I thank God that they are physically okay and still have a home to return to, as many in this area do not. But when I talked to Diane on Saturday, with the tears in her voice describing the devastation in the area, I knew I had to do something. They will rebuild, but it will take time & money to rebuild. After much thought and so many people asking how they can help the Moffas out, I decided to set up this GoFundMe campaign to give family, friends, and guests a way to help them clean up and rebuild. If you would like to help, know that your assistance is appreciated and we are all humbled by your generosity.
