Help My Son Craig Rebuild After Devastating Home Vandalism
Hi everyone, my name is Nancy Mullins. I'm a longtime resident of Pleasanton, California, where I've run my home-based daycare, Mullins Day Care & Child Care, for over 30 years. I've dedicated my life to nurturing children and supporting families in our community—it's been my passion and my way of giving back.
Today, I'm reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for help for my son, Craig, who lives in Burson, CA. While he was away from his home for just a week, a group of teenagers broke in and completely destroyed everything inside. According to the Calaveras County Sheriff's Office, they vandalized the property in a shocking act of hate and destruction.
They broke windows and doors, punched holes in nearly every wall, spray-painted gang signs, hateful messages (including pro-Nazi symbols and racist slurs), and destroyed furniture, appliances, bathrooms, and more. They poured gasoline, diesel, bodily fluids, and other substances everywhere—ruining beds, couches, cabinets, floors, and irreplaceable personal items. A noose was even hung in one of the bedrooms. The damage is estimated at around $200,000, and Craig's limited insurance may cover very little, if anything.
Craig moved to the country hoping for peace and safety, but coming home to this has been absolutely devastating. The police have limited leads, and rebuilding feels overwhelming right now. As a mom, it's heartbreaking to see my son go through this—he doesn't have the resources to fix it all on his own.
We're raising funds to help cover repair costs: replacing walls, floors, windows, doors, appliances, furniture, and cleaning/remediating the contamination so he can make his house a home again. Every donation, no matter the size, will go directly toward getting Craig back on his feet. If you're able to contribute skilled labor (like construction or cleanup), that would be incredibly appreciated too!
If you can't donate, please consider sharing this campaign with your friends, family, and networks. Your support—whether through kindness, prayers, or spreading the word—means the world to us during this difficult time.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading our story and for any help you can provide. Love and community are stronger than hate.
With gratitude,
Nancy Mullins (Craig's mom)
Pleasanton, CA
(On behalf of my son, Craig)
Funds will be used to patch walls, repaint the house. put in new carpet, replace all furniture, replace everything inside. Nothing was left unbroken, or had glass in it.
