Help Rebuild Clifton Boys’ Home — Westmoreland, Jamaica

My name is Danika Smith-Josiah, and I was born and raised in Jamaica. I now reside in the United States with my family, but Jamaica will always be home.

As a mother of boys, my heart breaks for the 25 young men who call Clifton Boys’ Home in Darliston, Westmoreland their home. Hurricane Melissa has ravaged many parts of Jamaica, and Westmoreland didn’t get spared. The Clifton Boys’ Home — a safe haven for boys ages 8 to 19 — lost its roof and all personal belongings, leaving them without shelter or security.

This is not the first time they’ve faced tragedy. In 2017, a fire destroyed the home completely. Through the generosity of kind-hearted people, it was rebuilt and became a renewed place of hope. Now, eight years later, disaster has struck again.

Since its founding in 1961, Clifton Boys’ Home has been a refuge for boys who have faced unimaginable hardships — providing food, shelter, education, and mentorship. One of the home’s founding members was the father of one of my high school colleagues, which makes this cause even more personal.

I am raising $10,000 USD to help the boys rebuild their lives by supporting:

• Reconstruction of the building and roof

• Food, clothing, and daily essentials

• Furniture, beds, and educational supplies

• Restoration of safety and stability

Every dollar will go directly toward rebuilding the home and restoring comfort and dignity to these boys who have already endured so much.
