Rebuild Cedar Mountain: Support Our Small Businesses

Hello! We are Cedar Mountain, North Carolina—known best for our famous backyard, DuPont State Forest, the most amazing local talent in WNC, great food, moonshine, art, and more… The More? Our people. Our traditions. Our history.
On Saturday, September 28, 2024, we woke to an eerie sense of things not being okay. Hurricane Helene had made it to our area, and the impact of wind and water was more devastating than anything we’ve EVER experienced in our area before. The mountains have provided protection from natural disasters like this in the past, so we’ve always considered ourselves lucky! Not so lucky this time!
Over the last years coming out of the pandemic, we grew strong as a community of small businesses and prided ourselves as being the Heart of the Hamlet! If you know us, you know how special our little mountain town is!
On that Saturday, we discovered that our Little River rose over 36” and we experienced over 70 mph winds. Our businesses along the river were flooded, some up to 4 feet of water! We hugged and cried with each other in the wake of the apocalyptic conditions. We all have worked SO hard! But as tears dried and the river began to recede, a plan was formed quickly to help others despite the conditions of our own businesses. “What can we do?” “How can we help?”
We have to rebuild quickly! Our food supplies are plentiful on the mountain, hundreds of meals are being prepared daily, and water is being dropped in by helicopters. Power companies are working hard to get power back on! What we need now is “to get by with a little help from our friends!”
We are Cedar Mountain! Thank you for any and all contributions that will be split among our small businesses so that we can start rebuilding as quickly as possible! You’re amazing! And thank you for loving US!
