Help Us Rebuild Cañas, Panama, After the 7.7 Magnitude Earthquake

One community. One shared future. Let’s rebuild together.

On October 9, 2026, a powerful earthquake struck the Cañas region, in the district of Tonosí, on Panama’s Pacific coast, turning the lives of families in our community upside down.

To us, Cañas is much more than a village. It is our home, the place where our children grow up, where neighbors look out for one another, and where generations have built their lives.

Today, our community needs your help. We are launching “Rebuilding Cañas Together,” a local initiative dedicated to supporting the people and places affected by the earthquake.

How Will Your Donations Be Used?

* Family homes: Repairing or rebuilding damaged homes, prioritizing the most vulnerable families.

* Schools: Helping restore safe spaces where children can learn and grow.

* Church and community buildings: Restoring places that bring people together and strengthen community bonds.

* Urgent needs: Providing water, food, medicine, and essential supplies based on the needs identified on the ground.

Why Your Support Matters

Cañas is a small, close-knit community. For many families, financial resources are limited, and recovering from a natural disaster can take months, or even years.

Every donation, big or small, can help put a roof back over a family’s head, reopen a classroom, or restore a place that means so much to our community.

Our Commitment to Transparency

We are committed to documenting the damage, setting priorities alongside local representatives, and regularly sharing updates on reconstruction progress, expenses, and supporting documentation.

Reconstruction projects will begin only after the necessary technical and safety assessments have been completed.

Donate. Share. Stand With Cañas.

Even if you are unable to donate, sharing this campaign is already an incredibly valuable way to help.

The earthquake shook our homes, but it will not define our future. Together, we will rebuild Cañas.

With heartfelt gratitude,

The “Rebuilding Cañas Together” Community Initiative
