On December 29th, it’ll be a year since I was in two car accidents where I ended up with an amputation of my left leg. I was in the hospital for about a month where I had 4 surgeries. I started the New Year with a debridement surgery. Then 3-4 days later, I had an 8 hour surgery to save my knee. There were complications, I lost a lot of blood, and unfortunately my surgeon told me that they were going to cut more of my leg. Hearing this news was devastating. My surgeon told me from the start that an above knee amputation was possible, but I was praying that he could save my knee.

My insurance did not cover the cost of my prosthetic, leaving me to face a significant financial burden. Having the right prosthetic is essential for me to regain my independence, return to work/school and engage in everyday activities that many people take for granted.

With your help, I can pay off my prosthetic and medical bills, so that I can focus on getting back to living my life. El 29 de diciembre, se cumplirá un año desde que tuve dos accidentes de automóvil en los que terminé con una amputación de mi pierna izquierda. Estuve en el hospital durante aproximadamente un mes, donde tuve 4 cirugías. Empecé el Año Nuevo con una cirugía de desbridamiento. Luego, 3-4 días después, tuve una cirugía de 8 horas para salvar mi rodilla. Hubo complicaciones, perdí mucha sangre y desafortunadamente, mi cirujano me dijo que me iban a cortar más de la pierna. Escuchar esta noticia fue devastador. Mi cirujano me dijo desde el principio que era posible una amputación por encima de la rodilla, pero estaba rezando para que pudiera salvar mi rodilla.

Mi seguro no cubrió el costo de mi prótesis, dejándome enfrentar una carga financiera significativa. Tener la prótesis adecuada es esencial para recuperar mi independencia, volver al trabajo/escuela y participar en actividades que muchas personas dan por sentadas.

Con tu ayuda, puedo pagar mis facturas protésicas y médicas, para poder concentrarme en volver a vivir mi vida.
