Help Rebuild Grandma’s Home After Hurricane Melissa
Hello everyone,
My name is Nickaya Lamothe and I am from Connecticut U.S.A., and I’m reaching out on behalf of my 83-year-old grandmother, Bilma, who lost her family home in St. Ann Parish, Jamaica, after the devastation of Hurricane Melissa.
The hurricane tore through her community with unimaginable force, leaving many without shelter and sadly, my grandmother’s home, the place she’s lived in for over 83 years, was completely destroyed. The roof was ripped away, walls collapsed, and nearly all her belongings were ruined by rain and flood.
This home wasn’t just a house, it was a pillar of our family’s history. It’s where generations gathered for dinners, where grandchildren played in the yard, and where Grandma shared stories of faith, love, and resilience. Seeing her sitting among the wreckage broke our hearts, but her spirit remains strong.
At 83 years old, starting over is not easy but with your help, we can rebuild her home and restore her comfort, dignity, and peace of mind.
We’re raising $10,000 USD to help cover:
- Rebuilding the structure and roof of the home
- Restoring electricity, water, and essential utilities
- Replacing furniture, appliances, and basic necessities
- Providing food, medication, and safe temporary shelter
Every donation no matter how small will make a real difference. Even if you can’t give financially, please share this campaign with your network so others can help.
Our grandmother has spent her life giving love and kindness to others. Now, we’re hoping the same love can return to her in this time of need. Your support will not only help her but also her extended family and friends that are impacted as well.
From our family to yours, thank you for your generosity, your prayers, and your support. Together, we can rebuild not just a home, but a legacy of love and strength that Hurricane Melissa could never wash away.
With gratitude,
Nickaya & Family
