Rebuild April's Home After Storm Destruction
Donation protected
Halito (hello in Choctaw), my name is April and recently my family has been 'struck' with a little bad luck. We live in southern Oklahoma - home to some of the most impulsive/erratic storms within the US. A few weeks ago a 15-minute impromptu storm rolled through that yielded 75-80mph winds. As a result, it completely uprooted a massive Oak tree that fell directly through our living room, primary bedroom, and front deck. Luckily, we were not home at the time but our sweet little lakehouse was left in shambles.
Sadly, home owner's insurance will not cover this catastrophe and we are tackling this state of emergency DIY. We have already spent over 5k on just removing the tree, roll off dumpsters, and tarps. We are literally depleted emotionally and physically (doing demo in 100 degree plus heat) and perhaps it is time to officially ask for some help.
If you are able, please consider supporting my family rebuild this nostalgic piece of property. There was a time when 5 generations lived under this roof! (ages ranging from 3 to 103) It has been a free shelter to several families in need over the past several decades so perhaps as a community we can rebuild her even stronger.
We would love to incorporate this meaningful support into the DNA of this rebuild. All donors will have their name added to a building material, so you will always be remembered for your generosity and weight you helped carry.
