Rebuild Angie's Kitchen: Support a Legacy

Donation protected
On September 15, 2024, the building of the first African restaurant in Philadelphia, known as Angie's Kitchen, the home of all the authentic Liberian food, was damaged by a fire. This devastating incident resulted in the closing of the family business. Angie's Kitchen was established in 1992 by the late Angeline Zuagar Manyeah. The late Angie started the restaurant business from her backyard. She sold platters and later saved up to open her own restaurant. On September 23, 2006, the cold hands of death took Big Angie away, leaving her husband and daughters to run the restaurant. Angie's Kitchen was not only a family business, it was a stepping stone for plenty of businesses. It was also a stepping stone to help ex-cons, the elderly, and teenagers get jobs. Our mother, Angie, built Angie's not only to serve the best of Liberian food, but to also be a place where people could go for help. Our mother truly believed no one should be left behind or forgotten no matter their circumstances. She thrived to give back and cater to her community. This tragedy not only threatened the livelihood of a cherished long-standing business, but it jeopardized the livelihood of a family who lived in the upstairs apartments.

Now, more than ever, we need the support. No contribution is too small. Every donation can make a significant difference in restoring hope and stability. Let us unite and show our strength, compassion, and resilience during this critical time. The funds raised through this campaign will directly assist the family in securing temporary housing, essential living supplies, and emotional support as they navigate this difficult time. Contributions will provide critical financial support. It will also go towards rebuilding the business, replacing inventory, and covering the operational costs while we work to regain stability, continuing our mother’s legacy.
