My grandparents wharf was destroyed due to the horrible winds and abnormally high tides in the past two storms. The entire wharf was destroyed. I grew up working with him many summers here. This iconic wharf is in countless postcards, paintings and is a special part of Stonington and my grandparents legacy as a lobstering family. It holds a special place in my whole families heart. We hate asking for help but we are left with the burden of removing the destroyed wharf and we are hoping to rebuild, even if it’s a smaller version. This will be extremely costly including hiring barges and workers for the removal of the destroyed wharf.
