Rebuild and Reopen Oakland's Pan Theater

Pan Theater’s Grand Revival

Please help Pan Theater reopen and improve its ability to support Bay Area artists. We are an Oakland-based black-box theater that hosts a variety of improv troupes, writing and acting classes, and walk-in dojos.

Pan Theater’s Grand Revival consists of many exciting developments:

- We are now the sole occupants of 120 Frank Ogawa Plaza, which means YOU have a

dedicated space to enjoy improv and theater in the heart of Oakland!

- We are upgrading our lighting system to deliver enhanced audience, performer and

educational experiences!

- We are thrilled about our Fall 2022 schedule which is packed with auditions, in-person classes, workshops, and shows

- The return of the Ten Minute Play Festival, highlighting the nation’s top emerging

playwrights and proving that “anything can happen in ten minutes”!

Pan Theater became virtual during the pandemic, so we never stopped being one of the most formidable and revered improv theaters in the Bay Area.

We are so grateful to our community for supporting us through these tough times, which saw many beloved and longstanding theater companies close their doors forever.

Now that we are the sole occupants of our theater space, we are making big investments in our lighting system and theater space. Our dream is to make Pan Theater a creative hub for local creators and visiting artists and troupes.

You can help us make that dream come true!

We are seeking to raise $8,587 toward the initial goal of $8250.

Revised renovation costs: $8171.98*

(includes sign displays costs and cost of placing new LED overhead lights)

Soundproofing and new window signs not included.

- $4,320 for brand new cost-efficient LED theater lights

Encore 50 Watt LED Fresnels (6)+shipping/tax,

cables, mounting stands and related equipment & DMX Controller

- $1,110 for layout, design and planning

- $490 installation fees, ladder/related equipment

-$692.20 - 36 new overhead LED Lights

-$1071 wall painting

-$157.50 hanging new LED overhead lights and measuring windows

GROUP SPONSOR LEVEL GIVING

Available ONLY to the first 10 donors at the $500 level:

- Get either a private workshop or show for you and your group (at least 10 to 20 people)

- 2 hour private workshop or private 90 minute show at Pan Theater.

- After show talk with director and actors

-past private shows/workshops have been given for: Wellsfargo, Intel, the Drew School, Harvard's Instant Gratification Players, and other local groups/charities.

PRODUCER LEVEL GIVING: Bring Your Show to Pan

Available ONLY to the first 5 donors at the $350 level:

- Stage Your Show or Reading at Pan. Up to 3 hours of Rehearsal and 2 hours of performance time.

- Invite an audience of up to 35 people.

Total capacity, including audience/actors, is not to exceed 45 people.

“DIRECTOR’S CUT” LEVEL GIVING

Available ONLY to the first 10 donors at the $200 level:

- Play with Pan at a live, in-person rehearsal in our dedicated space

Sunday 2.5 hour practice and after practice chat/Director's chat.

- Meet Pan troupe members while playing improv games

- Pan Theater t-shirt

Although Pan’s revenue was down approximately 70% throughout the pandemic, we were able to continue serving artists and audiences.

We:

- Hosted over 350 rehearsals

- Engaged 525 actors in workshops, rehearsals and classes

- Entertained 3000 audience members over Zoom

- Celebrated our 20th year of providing improv classes and shows
