Dear Friends in the Dharma,

Due to environmental circumstances, mainly the increase in rain due to climate change, the cave has fallen into disrepair. It has been 14 years already since the last time the cave was rebuilt. Because of this, we (Kalden and Felipe) are planning (or at the very least aspiring) to take apart the cave and then build it again from scratch this summer.

We will be doing most of the manual labor ourselves and recruiting the help of some friends from Lahaul. Nevertheless, we do need to hire some skilled labor for the construction and purchase some materials and tools. Since neither of us really have much resources, we’re asking for your help in raising some funds for this project in hopes that together we can preserve this wonderful place which is so special to all of us.

We will be taking the opportunity to make a few minor upgrades such as bringing double-pane windows to help with insulation, attempting to create a small roof to protect from the rain and somehow making the surface of the cave’s facade a little more water-resistant. Hopefully, this will make the cave more resilient to the elements and allow it to be preserved longer in the current climate.
