Hi everyone,
I’m writing this on behalf of my friends, Amanda and Dennis, and their family, who are currently facing an incredibly difficult and unexpected situation.
Several days ago, while they were away on a family vacation, their home experienced a major plumbing failure. They were already four days into their trip when a neighbor noticed water coming down from the roof. Because Amanda and Dennis were away, it took some time for neighbors to get in contact with them.
Even though the issue was discovered same day by the time neighbors got to the main water line and it was shut off, water had already spread from the upper areas of the home down throughout the house, causing extensive damage.
The impact goes far beyond what’s visible—affecting not only the interior, but critical structural and electrical components as well.
As of today, they have still not been able to return home to fully assess and manage the situation in person.
The home is now being categorized as a total loss.
Multiple contractors have confirmed it was a main feed line.
To make matters more challenging, Florida insurance policies place strict caps on water damage coverage. In situations like this, those limits provide only a fraction of what is required—leaving little ability to recover the home itself or replace what was lost inside it.
Amanda and Dennis are raising a family that includes three children—ages 8, 10, and 15—as well as an 85-year-old family member who lives with them. In a matter of days, they have gone from being on vacation together to being completely displaced from their home and routine.
If you know them, you know they are not people who ask for help. They are the ones who step up, lead, and support others. That’s why I felt it was important to step in and create this page on their behalf.
Right now, they are navigating temporary housing, immediate recovery costs, and the many unknowns that come with a situation like this.
If you feel led to support Amanda, Dennis, and their family during this time—whether through a donation, sharing this page, or simply keeping them in your thoughts—it would mean more than you know.
Every bit of support will go directly toward helping them stabilize, recover, and begin the process of rebuilding.
Thank you for standing with them.
