Hi! I'm Joshua Householder, and I am trying to raise funds to help my sister, Hannah, along with her husband, Matt, and their children, Chris, Jonny, and Makenzie. They are adoptive parents and are hoping to foster another child in the future.
When we were kids, we were bounced back and forth between houses a lot; however, we always had a refuge at Pap and Grandma's house. It was our anchor point, and it was home. The land has been in our family for over 100 years, and our great-grandfather and grandfather built the house in the early 1960s. It was where my father grew up, our memories were made, and much love was shared.
After my grandparents passed away, the house was empty for a little while, and then it was rented for a couple of years. Finally, my sister and her husband were able to purchase the house a couple of years ago and have been working tirelessly to get it back to where it needed to be. They have invested tens upon tens of thousands of dollars, and countless hours have been invested in this labor of love.
Then the mold showed up. After being sick for quite a while, they had the house tested, and the results came back at outstanding levels. They were told to "leave and take nothing with you." Family heirlooms, clothes, books, toys, bedding, electronics, decorations, etc. have to be discarded due to the extremely high levels of molds that are present.
The worst part? Their insurance, that they have faithfully paid into for years, will cover nothing. They looked into remediation, but the cost was almost more than what the house itself is worth, and there's always a chance that the mold would come back, especially given the high levels of contamination. They are currently living with my dad, using his two extra bedrooms, which is not ideal for their family of five.
The funds that are raised will help cover the cost of demolition of the old house, installing a new well and septic system, and will help them on their way towards establishing a new home for their family.
This is where you come in! Your support will give them the opportunity to start fresh and build a new home for their family. More than that, your donations will help lay the foundation for future generations to have a refuge and place to call home.
Thank you for taking the time to consider supporting this cause.
