REBUILD: A Black Trans Icon's Journey to stability.

Hello, my name is Niambi E. Stanley, though many know me as Niambi Prodigy—a name that resonates within the ballroom community and beyond.

For over three decades, I've been a beacon in the ballroom scene, mentoring, performing, and advocating for Black and brown trans individuals. My journey began at 13 in Philadelphia, where I found solace and expression through vogue. Over the years, I've founded organizations like Trans-In-Formation and initiatives such as "Comments and Conversations" to uplift our community.

In 2023, I faced an unimaginable loss—the passing of my beloved mother. Her sudden departure not only left an emotional void but also plunged me into severe financial hardship for the last 2 years. The weight of grief, coupled with systemic barriers, has made daily survival a challenge.

Being a Black trans woman in America comes with its unique set of challenges. Statistics reveal that we face disproportionate rates of homelessness, unemployment, and violence. Despite these odds, I've dedicated my life to creating safe spaces and platforms for the LGBTQ community to vent, mentoring the next generation, and preserving the rich history of ballroom culture.

Secure my housing where I have been stable for 15 years. Although my landlord is willing to work with me, right now I'm working with nothing, as my SSI payments were just terminated.

Afford daily necessities (food, transportation, utilities)

Access therapy and much-needed grief counseling because I find myself being the ease to others' pain, but I literally grieve every single day from all of those I've lost

Continue my community advocacy and educational initiatives

Rebuild my life with dignity and purpose
