After a devastating afternoon at our Scout HQ fire has destroyed the roof and rafters of the hall causing the roof to collapse into the hall resulting in substantial damage to the hall not only from the roof but from smoke and water too.

In our 116 years of scouting in Mortimer we have faced many challenges but we have always found a way to overcome. However we believe this could be the biggest challenge in our history.

The loss of our home is a big problem but in true scouting spirit we have already had many offers of temporary homes for our Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Rover Scouts for which we are very thankful.

We are determined to keep scouting in Mortimer alive for the next 100 plus years so are asking for any kind donations big or small to help us in the short term for additional costs to keep all sections running and help us not only rebuild our precious home but allow us to rise up from this disaster and return to an improved and enhanced home, turning this devastating event into a positive for not only our group but for many more children and our community.
