1st donor
My name is Scott Newman. I make music as Rebel Lion, out of San Antonio.
Ten years and thousands of my own dollars into this. My album Bluebonnet Plague comes out July 27, 2027.
I'm raising money for one show.
The show
San Antonio. One dress rehearsal, one performance.
It might be the only show I ever play. No tour, no second night planned.
Date and venue aren't locked yet. I'm aiming for release week — that's the intention, not a promise.
What I'm building:
A full lion. Prosthetic face built for one night. I wear it most of the show.
Every feature on the record gets paid $300 each, in their hand, for showing up.
Costume changes, backup dancers, set changes, real production. Lights, LED, a stage that moves.
Cameras. It gets filmed so it exists after.
What $72,727 does
The album drops 07.27.27. The budget is $72,727. The goal is $72,727.
Yes, on purpose. A can of the coffee is $7.77. At some point you commit to the bit.
Here is every dollar.
Intended Venue and one dress rehearsal $12,500
Production — sound, lights, LED wall, stage, crew $20,000
The lion — full prosthetic, SFX artist, costumes $10,000
Set design and build $9,950
Backup dancers, choreographer, sound engineer, rehearsal space $9,500
Paying every feature on the record $3,000
Filming it — cameras, audio, edit $5,000
Marketing $1,500
Event insurance $1,200
Contingency Lion Prosthetic Materials - $77
Total $72,727
The books stay open. I'll post what came in and exactly where it went.
To be clear
I'm not selling you anything. No shirt, no ticket, no package. This is a donation and all it buys is one incredible show happening.
Shirts and coffee are in the store on my site. Tickets go on sale once the date is locked. Whether I exceed or don't hit my goal, you'll get whatever comes in by album release date set up whether its a fucking show in my backyard, or at the Alamodome or something like that.
The date
The album comes out Tuesday, July 27, 2027. That's locked.
The show isn't booked yet. But we'll figure that out based on what comes in.
