As some of you know, August of 2015 I found myself in emergency surgery for a retinal detachment.  After every surgery, I wasn't allowed much activity for 2 to 3 months. Six (6), yes, 6 surgeries later, I'm not very happy to report that things have not gotten better.  The first 2 surgeries caused a cataract, which she sucked out on the 3rd surgery. I have no lens in my eye.  I have secondary glaucoma.  The doctor is afraid to take the silicone oil out of my eye. After all the surgeries and eye drops, she thinks that if she removes the oil, my eye will collapse. The white of my eye has thinned to the point that it would make it very difficult for her to find an area which she can go into the eye with her tools. So, this is what it boils down to.  Medi-cal has taken my eye permanently. I have no idea how long the oil will remain in my eye.  This is an ongoing issue.   During all of this down time, I started having some major body pain.  Finally I was diagnosed with arthritis in my spine.  Next came the nerve pain that was so unbearably painful I was actually praying for death. I've had 6 or 7 lumbar epidurals last year.  In December I had 2 lumbar facet injections.  One on each side.   Beginning of July I was diagnosed with migraines and a B12 deficiency. The B12 deficiency caused neuropathy. Which the neurologist says will take up to a year to decrease and some of it may not. The rheumatologist put me on Lyrica in June and I've gained 17 pounds in 4 months time. Over the course of the last year, the pain is just chronic and seems to be getting worse and not better. Right now I have 8 sessions of physical therapy in a pool.  Pain Mgmt has ordered p.t. for my neck.  We just got the cervical MRI back and the stenosis has worsened since last year. My hands and my feet hurt all the time.  I have chronic pain and chronic fatigue.   I've been on state disability for almost a year now.  I filed for SSDI in October of last year and I'm currently waiting for a hearing date.  I do have an attorney. SDI is enough to cover the roof over my head.  LA County gives me $16 per month for food.  So, you can see the dilemma.  Looking at the last year, I have not been able to take care of myself as well as before. My bills total just under $400 per month.  Sometimes I have to reschedule doctor appointments because I don't have gas to get there.  Right now, my car is on empty, and I have less than $2 in the bank.  This is my life now.  We humans take so many things for granted.  Until we don't have them.  Toilet paper.  Razors to shave.  Quarters for laundry.  Being able to clean your house as often as you want.  Being able to make your bed. Or just being able to stand long enough to cook food.  Sometimes, I prefer sleep over food.  Being able to go to the market and get anything whenever you need it.   My life has gone from being a totally independent person to being someone I don't know. Even thought I always ate healthy and worked out. even though I was in good physical health, 6 eye surgeries have changed my health, and, my entire life. Its not easy to ask for it.  But I need help.  My pain meds are not covered by insurance and costs approx $100 per month. No money, no pain meds.   I don't know how I've made it this far.  The power of prayer can be amazing.  So, I'm sending out prayers for HELP.  Anything at all is helpful.  Thank you for reading this.
