Rebecca’s Recovery (and Service dog training)

Hello, thank you for visiting this page. We’re fundraising on behalf of our dear friend, Rebecca, who most of us knew as an absolute brilliant Director of IT, but who is also a mom, sister, daughter, friend, and overall genuine person.

Tragedy struck Rebecca last October when she was involved in a horrible car accident that claimed the life of someone whom she dearly loved and changed Rebecca forever. Rebecca lost both arms, suffered a major head contusion and lost her entire life as she knew it within seconds. She was in ICU for weeks, received numerous surgeries, and lived in a therapy recovery center for weeks. She’s had to re-learn how to walk, eat, talk and live in a new state of physical, mental and emotional turmoil. Aside from all that, Rebecca can no longer work, which she took much pride in, has had to move out of a house she was making into a home, and can no longer drive which she very much enjoyed when going to the mountains for fun and adventure.

It’s a long road to recovery but Rebecca is a fighter and continues to persevere despite her setbacks. She shows strength, hope, faith and love, even when dealing with such loss and tragedy.

Not only are the medical bills piling up, but Rebecca will need advanced prosthetics for both arms, home modifications for doors, drawers, light fixtures and kitchen appliances, continued in-home care, and overall living expenses.

In addition to just bills, Rebecca is hoping to go through training with her husky Akyra to become a service support dog, as well as attend the 2023 Amputee Coalition National Conference in Orlando this fall, both of which will require thousands and thousands of dollars to achieve. She’s also passionate to get the word out about limb loss awareness to help others living with similar situations.
