Rebecca has ALS
Donation protected
There is no cure for the ALS that has stolen Rebecca's mobility, independence, even her ability to speak and move. One year ago she was an active 64-year-old who loved gardening with a passion, playing her drums, and spending time with her grandkids. She was able to work and drive and speak, enjoyed cooking healthy meals, and attending activities with her church. Almost overnight she began to have trouble moving her hand, then her arm. it became so severe that she had to give up driving, then give up her job at the farm she loved. Within only a few months the tests revealed she was in the beginning stages of ALS, or Lou Gehrig's disease- where the nerve cells die and cause the muscles of the body to stop working. This disease is fatal and has no known cure. The doctors confirmed that her particular case was moving quite quickly.
Now, Rebecca cannot do anything for herself. She can't walk, speak, dress herself, or even turn over in bed. She is in pain as her muscles atrophy and cries daily at the constant frustration and suffering. Her dedicated and patient husband JR has quit working in order to provide her with 24/7 care, rather than hire a stranger to provide it.
Recently, Rebecca has begun to receive intravenous infusions of vitamin C (sodium ascorbate) and the results have been very positive. The infusions help her a lot, and even though the aim isn't to cure the disease, the relief she experiences in her symptoms has convinced her husband to dig into their savings and pay for her to get one per week. Since he is not working and living on the fixed incomes of disability and retirement, continuing these treatments have become nearly financially impossible. We are trying to raise enough money to provide Rebecca with one IV therapy session per week for the next 6 months. Each treatment is $300 and she needs 4 per month. PLEASE consider sponsoring a full or partial treatment for her. The treatments help her comfort level immensely, she has less pain and is more relaxed. I know Rebecca would thank each of you herself if she could!!!
