Hi! My name is Rebecca Crane and I am an Anishinaabe singer studying opera and vocal performance as a grad student.
I was recently accepted into a music intensive in Oxford, UK, called Music Across the Pond which runs from June 13-23. This intensive seeks to develop and train young classical singers through masterclasses, private training, and workshops while being given networking opportunities, performances, and travel experience. While I have been fortunate enough to receive some funding for this opportunity, it is not enough to cover the cost of travel and tuition. Flights cost a minimum of $1100 CAD (and rising each day) and the remaining costs of tuition is $1800 USD (~$2500 CAD). I am solely looking for help with flights and tuition costs so that I can take part in this opportunity.
A bit more about me: I am a mezzo-soprano who graduated from the Bachelor of Music Hons Performance (Voice) program and am currently pursuing a Master of Music in Literature and Performance both from Western University, studying under Jackie Short. Roles include: Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus, Tisbe in La Cenerentola, the Witch in Hansel & Gretel, and Lady Angela in Patience. I have also appeared as a featured performer in the Opera at Western’s Opera and Musical Theatre Gala, Banff Centre’s Gather Listen Hear Festival, and Grand River Opera’s Opera Pub series. I am a recent alumni the Banff Centre for the Arts & Creativity and Stratford Summer Music’s Vocal Academy.
