At nine years old, Becca began a one-girl non-profit that existed to raise funds for Hope Community Center, an orphanage in Kenya. The first three years consisted of her encouraging people to donate and giving the funds to Bob Cload in little zip lock baggies.
Things took off in 2010 when she and a friend named the non-profit Cash for Christ and, banding together with 18 other children, began meeting weekly and running regular bake sales. The majority of the funds were donated to Hope Community Center (the rest was given to various other Christian charities).
On June 9th, Becca decided to take advantage of an opportunity to join a short term mission team that is going to the Hope Community Center this summer. They will leave July 31, and will serve the Hope Community Center for 15 days before returning to the U.S.
This is a chance for Becca to go to the place that sparked her passion for missions. She'll be leading group devotions centered around the 40 Day Prayer Covenant, leading worship in song, and giving a message using curriculum from the 40 Day Prayer Covenant. She'll also be playing with the kids, meeting the cow that was purchased with the money CfC raised last year, and doing skits with the kids based off of Bible Stories.
In order to make this happen though, she needs to raise a total of about $3400. $750 has already been provided, leaving $2650. The bulk of this will be spent on airfare. If you can support her financially, we would be extremely grateful--she can't get to Kenya by herself. Prayers for a met goal, safe travels, and that the team would be a blessing to the Community Center are greatly appreciated.
