Rebecca Clyde

For those of you sadly unaware, Rebecca has been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer, which has not responded as hoped to treatment. Remaining very much true to herself with typical altruism, even during this difficult time when she has been told that she is dying, Rebecca's focus remains on her loved ones.

Many of you will want to 'do something' to help or show your love for Rebecca. As a Biologist, she still firmly believes that flowers should stay in the garden(!); thus, she has requested no flowers, now or at her funeral. Instead, with the coming months and her family in mind, we request that (if you are able and would like to do so) you make a donation towards Rebecca's funeral costs. This is an exceptionally difficult time for the Clydes and this is one way in which we can help to minimise the pressure that comes with the terminal diagnosis of a family member.

Rebecca has been remarkably well-supported by Velindre Cancer Centre, and Maggie's, a charity providing invaluable support and services to patients and their support networks. As such, as requested by Rebecca, any surplus funds will be donated to these organisations, to help them to continue to provide high-quality care for those who find themselves in these unimaginable situations.

We are sure you will all agree that Rebecca is one of a kind and a real gem with humour, strength of character and compassion in abundance. She has undoubtedly had a profound impact on many, and continues to do so as a wife, mum, daughter, sister and aunt, but also as a treasured friend, neighbour, volunteer (such as with the Scouts), colleague and teacher.
