Le Collectif Estamos Aqui, avec le soutien du Comité pour les droits humains en Amérique latine (CDHAL), organise la venue de l’artiste et militante guatémaltèque Rebeca Lane au Québec en mai 2026. Le collectif Estamos Aqui se dédie à la recherche des familles biologiques des enfants guatémaltèques volés pendant le conflit armé interne (1960-1996) et à sensibiliser sur les adoptions internationales, tandis que la mission du CDHAL est de visibiliser les mouvements de base d’Amérique latine au Canada.

Qui est Rebeca Lane?

Née à la ville de Guatemala, Rebeca Lane a été nommée en l'honneur de sa tante, poétesse et guérillera kidnappée en 1981 par le gouvernement militaire qui l'a fait par la suite disparaître en raison de son implication politique dans le mouvement de guérilla d’Organisation Révolutionnaire du Peuple Armé (ORPA).

Reconnue en Amérique latine et à l’international pour son engagement féministe, anticolonial et en faveur des droits humains, Rebeca Lane est à la fois artiste hip-hop, poète et militante. Sa voix et sa musique portent les luttes des femmes, des peuples autochtones, des communautés marginalisées et de la mémoire historique, tout en créant des ponts entre cultures et mouvements sociaux. Rebeca Lane participera à des conférences sur ces sujets et offrira un concert à Tiohtià:ke (Montréal).

Ces événements visent à créer des ponts entre les communautés artistiques, militantes et racisées, afin de renforcer les liens de solidarité entre le Québec/Canada et l’Amérique latine (Abya Yala).

El colectivo Estamos Aquí, con el apoyo del Comité por los Derechos Humanos en América Latina (CDHAL), organiza la visita de la artista y activista guatemalteca Rebeca Lane a Quebec en mayo de 2026. El colectivo Estamos Aquí se dedica a la búsqueda de las familias biológicas de los niños guatemaltecos robados durante el conflicto armado interno (1960-1996) y a sensibilizar sobre las adopciones internacionales, mientras que la misión del CDHAL es dar visibilidad a los movimientos de base de América Latina en Canadá.

¿Quién es Rebeca Lane?

Nacida en la ciudad de Guatemala, Rebeca Lane recibió su nombre en honor a su tía, poeta y guerrillera secuestrada en 1981 por el gobierno militar, que posteriormente la hizo desaparecer debido a su implicación política en el movimiento guerrillero de la Organización Revolucionaria del Pueblo Armado (ORPA).

Reconocida en América Latina y a nivel internacional por su compromiso feminista, anticolonial y en favor de los derechos humanos, Rebeca Lane es artista de hip-hop, poeta y activista. Su voz y su música transmiten las luchas de las mujeres, los pueblos indígenas, las comunidades marginadas y la memoria histórica, al tiempo que tienden puentes entre culturas y movimientos sociales. Rebeca Lane participará en conferencias sobre estos temas y ofrecerá un concierto en Tiohtià:ke (Montreal).

Estos eventos tienen como objetivo tender puentes entre las comunidades artísticas, activistas y racializadas, con el fin de reforzar los lazos de solidaridad entre Quebec/Canadá y América Latina (Abya Yala).

The Organizing Committee

The Estamos Aqui Collective, with the support of the Committee for Human Rights in Latin America (CDHAL), is organizing the visit of Guatemalan artist and activist Rebeca Lane to Quebec in May 2026. The Estamos Aqui collective is dedicated to finding the biological families of Guatemalan children stolen during the internal armed conflict (1960-1996) and raising awareness about international adoptions, while the CDHAL's mission is to raise the profile of Latin American grassroots movements in Canada.

Who is Rebeca Lane?

Born in Guatemala City, Rebeca Lane was named after her aunt, a poet and guerrilla fighter who was kidnapped in 1981 by the military government, which subsequently made her disappear because of her political involvement in the guerrilla movement of the Revolutionary Organization of the Armed People (ORPA).

Recognized in Latin America and internationally for her feminist, anti-colonial, and human rights activism, Rebeca Lane is a hip-hop artist, poet, and activist. Her voice and music carry the struggles of women, indigenous peoples, marginalized communities, and historical memory, while building bridges between cultures and social movements. Rebeca Lane will participate in conferences on these topics and give a concert in Tiohtià:ke (Montreal).

These events aim to build bridges between artistic, activist, and racialized communities, in order to strengthen the bonds of solidarity between Quebec/Canada and Latin America (Abya Yala).
