Homelessness is highly overrated

On July 24, 2016, I lost my beloved husband. We had been together for nine years. Last year, due to health problems, I had to stop working. When I was ready to go back to work, his health problems and dozens of rejections from potential employers kept me out of work. When Mike died, his disability disbursement was our only source of income, and his bank closed his account. I need to pay $775 for the declined rent payment plus $10 per day in late fees. In addition, I need to make sure I keep my electricity on, make necessary repairs to my vehicle so it can pass emissions, register the car in my name, get new plates, and insure it. I'm estimating the total cost to be around $2000, but it might end up being a little higher.
I'm working on getting some emergency rental assistance, but most programs only help if one is either disabled or parents of minor children. I am officially neither. I'm in no way looking for long term help, just enough to make sure I don't end up having to sleep in my car while I mourn the loss of my incredible friend and husband.
