Reagan's Surgery Fund

Reagan is my 18-year old niece. At the beginning of her sophomore year of high school, Reagan began having intense headaches, unlike any migraine she had suffered before. She also had other unexplained symptoms, like body aches, rashes and drainage from her nose. After a multitude of tests, the doctors determined Reagan had Lupus, or a similar connective tissue disorder – explaining the body aches and rashes, but not the drainage of clear liquid from her nose and intense headaches.

Over the next two years, Reagan was too ill to attend high school and completed her sophomore and junior year through a homebound program with the school district. Luckily she is very smart! She completed the necessary requirements. Reagan endured multiple hospitalizations, emergency room visits, diagnostic tests including lumbar punctures, MRIs and CT scans.  The drainage of clear liquid was determined to be a cerebral spinal fluid leak near her sinus cavity. Reagan eventually had neurosurgery to patch the leak. For a while, this provided some relief from her headaches, but they were never really gone….

For her senior year, Reagan went to as much school as she could tolerate. Her perseverance to salvage some of her senior year was incredible. Many days she could only attend for an hour or two, but she prioritized the courses and exams and completed her senior year with honors. She graduated on May 26, 2017.

During this past year, Reagan continued to experience intense pain with her headaches. Various treatments were attempted, with only temporary relief. The cerebral spinal fluid leak has continued, and worsened, requiring another neurosurgery this summer. The expenses are immense and her parents can use some help. Her dad is working, but her mom has not been able to work given the care Reagan needs.

I implore you to donate to support Reagan’s neurosurgery expenses. Anything helps! Our goal is to correct the leak, improve/remove the headaches and get Reagan to college this fall. She wants to be a Veterinarian and has been accepted at Carroll College in Helena, Montana.

Thank you,
Jeanine Rundquist
