Hello from the Producer of Reading the Room!
This short film Directed and Written by Denanh Tran and Darren
Khommanivong is a Wes Anderson-inspired romantic comedy looking to spark
those feelings of warmth and happiness one gets from their first experience of
love. This film aims to capture the essence of an awkward kid overcoming his
own self-doubts, while also taking the aspects of Wes Anderson’s visual style
of a high contrast and symmetrical framing that make a visually stunning film
to watch.
SYNOPSIS
This teen romantic comedy explores the life of an awkward high schooler who
struggles to connect with anyone around him. One day, Brian goes to his
usual spot in the library to be alone, but sees the most popular girl in class,
Laura, sitting at his table. Initially awkward, Brian musters up the courage to
talk to her and slowly begins to fall in love with her. On the last day of school,
he confesses his feelings to her, only to find out that she also feels the same
way. Alas, they are unable to be together due to different career paths. Laura
gives Brian his first and final kiss goodbye as they part ways, hoping to see
each other sometime in the future.
