Help Us Build a Free Little Library
Hi! I'm Julia Dominguez, a kindergarten teacher with a simple goal: to make sure every child at my school has access to books, at school and at home.
Many of my students come from homes where books are a luxury. They love story time and learning to read but they don’t have books to continue reading at home. I want to change that.
For families facing economic hardship, buying books just isn’t possible. And yet, early access to books is one of the strongest indicators of future academic success.
Why This Matters:
1 in 4 children in the U.S. grow up without learning how to read at age level.
Children who have books at home are 6 times more likely to read above grade level.
Kids who grow up in homes without books are significantly less likely to graduate high school.
Reading proficiency by 3rd grade is a better predictor of high school graduation than any other factor—including income or race.
We can't fix our literacy rates overnight, but we can start with one simple, powerful step: a Free Little Library at our school. A place where children and families can freely take home books—no cost, no judgment, just opportunity.
With your help, we will:
Build and install a Free Little Library on school grounds
Fill it with diverse, engaging, age-appropriate books for our students and community
Use any extra funds to purchase additional books and keep the library stocked year-round
This isn’t just about reading—it’s about equity, opportunity, and giving every child the chance to imagine, explore, and thrive.
If you believe all kids deserve the chance to fall in love with reading, please consider donating. Your support will directly impact lives and futures.
Thank you for being part of our story.
