Read, Rise & Relocate

Hello My Name is Roderick Jusu owner of Afromart Nanaimo. We’re excited to launch our “Read, Rise & Relocate” Summer Fundraising Campaign to support Arimah’s Reading Club — a safe, vibrant space where children discover the joy of reading and learning every week.Help Us Rent a Bigger Space for Our Community Reading Club!
It all started with 7 curious minds gathered in my living room. Just 7 children, a few books, and a dream — to create a safe and nurturing space where reading would be fun, education would be accessible, and children would be encouraged to explore the world through stories.
Fast forward a few months, and that little dream has grown beyond anything we imagined. Today, we proudly serve over 70 children every week at our completely free reading club in Murraytown.
But with this beautiful growth has come an urgent challenge: my house is no longer big enough to accommodate the kids. We’ve outgrown the space, and it's now bursting at the seams with eager learners sitting on floors, sharing chairs, and squeezing into every available corner just to be part of this movement.
Our goal is to raise $10,000 to rent a larger, safe, and child-friendly space that will not only accommodate more children but also allow us to introduce vocational skill training to help them become more independent and empowered. We believe education is not just about books — it's also about giving children the tools to shape their futures with confidence and creativity.
Here’s what your support will help us do:
• Rent and furnish a bigger, more accommodating space
• Provide more reading materials and educational supplies
• Introduce basic vocational training programs for kids (like arts & crafts, basic digital skills, and creative projects)
• Ensure a safe, inclusive environment for continuous learning
This reading club has become a second home for many of these children — a place where they feel seen, heard, and valued. We want to keep this space open, free, and growing. But we can’t do it without you.
Whether it’s $10 or $1,000 — every contribution brings us one step closer to making a lasting difference in these children's lives.
Please donate, share, and help us build a brighter, more spacious future for our community’s young readers and future leaders.
With gratitude,
Arimah Bangura
