Read My Lips Masks
One of the main ways people who are deaf or hard of hearing communicate is by reading lips. Conventional masks cover one of the only ways deaf people communicate--lips. With the clear window Read My Lips Masks provides, the DHH have the opportunity to stay safe while still being able to receive treatment, complete necessary tasks, and return to their jobs.
My best friend Maggie and I came up with the idea for Read My Lips Masks because she could not understand me when I was wearing a mask as she is congenitally deaf and counts on reading lips to communicate. It is not just for the DHH, it is about breaking down the normalized dehumanization in hospitals because sometimes all we need to see is a smile.
