Reaching out for Erin

My sister, Erin Bailey Lashley, was diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2018. She does have health insurance, but it has a $5,000 annual deductible, and the insurance still doesn't pay fully after that. As her cancer had moved into a lymph node by the time it was detected, she has undergone a round of chemotherapy, a bilateral mastectomy, and is now completing five weeks of radiation therapy. The radiation now means driving to Jacksonville every weekday costing gas money as well as extra maintenance on the car. She will also have to have two more surgeries and her infusions will continue until June.

The M.D. Anderson Cancer Center Patient Financial Advisor applied for Medicaid for her, but the state of Georgia does not accept patients unless they are blind, disabled, or over 65. In addition to the bills from the two years' worth of deductibles, there are things insurance simply will not cover, such as certain necessary prescriptions and some mandatory medical tests.

Any contribution no matter how small will be greatly appreciated from anyone who is able to and willing to help.
