Reaching Out For Amy's Recovery
Donation protected
Just about 2 weeks ago, while recovering from hamstring surgery, Amy lost her balance coming down the stairs at her home on a Saturday morning. She fell hard into the tile at the base of the stairs and unfortunately suffered a few injuries including skull fractures, a broken clavicle, and a brain bleed leading to a traumatic brain injury. Amy was in the ICU for about a week and was recently transferred to a hospital where she remains in recovery.
For those of you who know Amy, she has dedicated her life to serving students with disabilities and their families for over 20 years. It is now our goal to get Amy the support she needs for her own recovery. Brain injuries are scary and complex. All aspects of Amy's life are currently on hold as she works to regain memory, coordination, physical function, and speech. It is likely Amy won't be returning to her work or an independent lifestyle for many months which will create financial hardship for her and her young kids, Jackson (13) and Alice (10). While our family is doing everything we can to support her, and will continue to do so, if you feel compelled to give, we know (while she would hate this outreach) that she will greatly appreciate it.
Amy is a fighter but she has a long journey ahead and we are hoping to lessen the many burdens of her recovery with some financial assistance. If that's one thing we can do to ease her pain, we're here to try to make that happen. Thank you in advance for any support you can provide.
